ABOUT OWO
We don't
tell fortunes.
We translate millennia-old texts into language you instantly get.
THE NAME
Owo · Guanwo
From the Book of Songs — "Observe my life" — a cultural gene of introspection and self-reflection.
Owo sounds like awe. O-W-O is symmetric, like two wide-open eyes — seeing, and being seen.
We don't tell you the answer.
We let you see it.
01
Why Owo?
Millennia-old tradition,
deserving modern design.
Chinese face reading spans over 2,000 years. Texts like Maya Shenxiang, Bingjian, and Shenxiang Quanbian contain rich methodologies for observing people.
But two things keep them away from young people:Language barrier(classical Chinese) and Superstition label(street fortune-telling abuse).
We built Owo to present these ancient texts in a modern way — as shareable, fun experiences like MBTI,so young people encounter real traditional culture while having fun.
"Form is lesser than Spirit,"
"Spirit is lesser than Qi."
— Zeng Guofan · Bingjian · Spirit & Bone
02
What we built
Structured ancient texts
Extracted 55 core face-reading rules from Maya Shenxiang, Bingjian, Shenxiang Quanbian & Liuzhuang Xiangfa — each annotated with original sources and modern translations.
Designed 16 Persona Types
Reorganized traditional Five Elements and Twelve Palaces into 16 persona profiles suited for modern understanding — inspired by, but not copying, MBTI.
Dual-layer AI translation
Layer 1 AI makes serious judgments (based on ancient texts). Layer 2 translates into witty, relatable language. Content safety guardrails prevent any fortune-telling claims.
On-device detection · Minimal storage
Face detection runs in your browser — original photos are never uploaded. We only store your persona type ID for the collection feature (~50 bytes).
